ISL Exports 3000 tonnes of RDF to Waste to Energy Plant in Denmark
Our team in Larne have had a busy week! It’s no easy job to load a ship with 3,000 tonnes of RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel)!
We collect waste from across Northern Ireland every day. From businesses, schools, hospitals and more.
We are dedicated to ensuring that nothing we collect ever ends up in landfill, despite the fact that this would often be the more cost effective option for us.
Instead we invest our time finding reuse options wherever possible, then we send the remainder for anaerobic digestion, recycling or for use in waste to energy plants. After segregating waste and removing recyclable material, we bale the rest and send to be converted into a low-carbon, secure source of energy supply.
This week we worked in partnership wth Point Shipping and Larne Harbour to load around around 3000 tonnes of RDF onto The Atlas, which will now be shipped to an energy from waste plant in Denmark. The Atlas was already making its return journey to this region.
