BLK BOX Strive for Sustainable Solutions for Bulk Waste Items
Athletic training equipment manufacturer BLK BOX have become the latest business in Belfast to strive for sustainable solutions for their bulky waste items.
The local company, with an international footprint, are specialists in athletic training equipment and facility design and recently they contacted the ISL Waste Management team with a challenge.
Due to a very busy period and increased production, they had a large amount of foam blocks and wooden pallets on site. Keen to make sure these didn’t end up in landfill, we were tasked with finding an environmentally friendly way of disposal.
Luckily, we have worked closely with Play Resource for a number of years and knew just who to call. Play Resource recycle waste materials from factories, shops, offices and warehouses through their Scrapstore in Belfast. Materials from here are then used for arts and crafts activities in schools and community groups throughout Northern Ireland.
Within days the bulky items had been collected, transported to Play Resource’s warehouse and then redistributed to organisations in need.
Danny Paton, Customer Accounts Manager with ISL said:
“We were delighted to be able to step in and facilitate this impressive donation to Play Resource. As a business, ISL are committed to making one organisation’s waste a valuable resource to another, delivering tangible benefits, while solving problems in the wider community.”
“We would like to thank BLK BOX and for working with us to prove how effective a circular economy can be and how we can follow the principles of the waste hierarchy to achieve social good.”
