Presenting 1st ‘ISL Young Environmental Leader’ to Zero Waste School Ulidia College

This week we were delighted to present our first ‘ISL Young Environmental Leader’ cup to the Eco Team of Ulidia Integrated College, Carrickfergus.

We have been proudly working with teachers and students at the school for a number of years, helping them to first establish and now maintain their zero waste to landfill status. This means that none of the waste produced at Ulidia ever goes into landfill. All the waste is recycled or reused. Therefore reducing the carbon footprint of the college.

This morning, Joe McCrystal, ISL Waste Management and Head of Geography Sandra Patterson presented the first annual ‘ISL Recycling Cup’ to the Eco Team who in turn presented it to a junior and senior pupil for their commitment to the group and its activities. The inaugural recipients of the cup are Kyna Ku (Senior) and Ryan McMullan (Junior).

Both Ryan and Kyna have demonstrated commitment towards the Eco Team and have worked tirelessly to encourage others to be environmentally aware. Kyna has been a member of the Eco Team for seven years, and has been voted this year by her peers to be their new Chairperson.

Well done to Ryan and Kyna and the Eco Team as a whole. We are so proud to work with such committed Waste and Eco Warriors!
