Tasty Foods NI donate surplus stock to local charities
Every day, perfectly good food is being sent to landfill. Every day people are going hungry. In the spirit of giving back, Tasty Foods, Belfast have donated four pallets of frozen savoury foods to charity.
ISL Waste Management works closely with the Tasty Foods team to help them dispose of all business waste ethically and responsibly, diverting everything from landfill in the process.
The company are a well known, leading supplier of ready meals, garlic breads, pies and fresh soups and contacted us recently about a large amount of in-date, surplus stock in their Northern Ireland warehouse.
We work closely with SOS NI and in the last eighteen months we have diverted £450,000 of food marked for destruction to helping those most in need through the charity’s Food Programme.
As a result, we were able to facilitate a passing of three pallets of food to the charity, who distribute to over 50 charitable organisations who in turn help to feed over 1,500 people in NI.
Danny Paton, Customer Accounts Manager with ISL says:
“Our unique relationship with the SOS NI Food Programme is extremely fulfilling and one that is developing all the time. As an organisation, we are constantly looking for innovative solutions to save our clients’ money while also delivering tangible benefits to the wider community both environmentally and economically.”
We also passed one pallet of food to Salvation Army in Northern Ireland. Danny adds:
“We would like to thank Tasty Foods for reaching out to us, especially at this time of year when the food will be well received and much needed.”
“Our community owes a huge debt of gratitude to organisations such as SOS NI, who do amazing work in addressing issues such as food poverty and deprivation.”
