ISL Waste Delighted to Support Tidy Randalstown Big Litter Pick 2018

ISL Waste Management were delighted to support Tidy Randalstown, at their annual litter picking event in March 2018.

About Tidy Randalstown

Tidy Randalstown is an environmental group which was formed a few years ago by a number of local people who were tired of the accumulating litter and the town looking uncared for and depressing.

The group now has over 80 volunteers and a number of awards including the Royal Horticultural Society Britain in Bloom Gold Medal 2017. Their main objectives are to encourage and inspire people to work together to improve their environment and make Randalstown a good place to live and work.

The annual Big Litter Pick Day was held on Saturday 24th March.

ISL in the Northern Ireland Community

We were only too happy to support this fantastic group in their endeavours, so as well as helping with their equipment needs, we also removed all the rubbish and waste collected by volunteers. This year, Tidy Randalstown collected 104 litter bags and 350kg of rubbish.

Often, after community groups go to the effort of removing this rubbish from streets, parks and beaches, the bags of waste end up in landfill. This is not an ideal solution.

Since 2009 we have been a Zero Waste to Landfill company. We recycle about 70% of all waste collected and the rest is sent for energy recovery.

We recently sponsored the Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful Live Here Love Here Awards, which recognised the work of volunteers and community groups around NI.

We will be supporting a number of these groups in their environmental activities throughout 2018. If you’d like help or assistance, get in touch.
